Group of industrial Electronics Applied to Robotics and Renewable energies. First contest for ideas Albi, 9th December 2010

Albi, 9th December 2010, FIRST CONTEST FOR IDEAS Getting the hydrogen becomes an energy alternative for use in multiple economic sectors, requires the quantities needed to produce it in a way efficient, safe and environmentally acceptable at prices competitive with other options. It is necessary to develop technologies for its end-use in different applications → design and construction of more secure and efficient structures. One of the possible ways of integration of hydrogen in a sector such as business, would be its inclusion in the processes and tasks related to logistics management. At present the implementation in industry is minimal - prediction of high growth in a medium-long term. HYDROGEN in logistics process

Albi, 9th December 2010, FIRST CONTEST FOR IDEAS right goods or services →right place→ right time →desired condition = great contribution to the firm and a satisfied client. If the logistics is managed of an efficient form by the company, benefits appear : -Fulfillment of the current requirements of the market. -Optimization of the costs (for supplies & costumers). -Improve of the efficiency of the internal and external activities. These activities form the bridge between production and markets, separated per time and distance = LOGISTIC LOGISTICS PROCESS vital area of business management

Albi, 9th December 2010, FIRST CONTEST FOR IDEAS WAREHOUSE a important piece of logistic - exact control of the materials. - optimal distribution. - transport into the warehouse. → Efficient management. Distribution of the components and materials proceeding from the suppliers necessary for the manufacture, as the finished products, which must be stored up to final distribution the clients, inside the warehouses.

Albi, 9th December 2010, FIRST CONTEST FOR IDEAS WAREHOUSE green energy consumption Companies search solutions to diminish the energetic expenses derived from the manufacturing processes and storage. One of the raised solutions is to use the big existing surfaces in the roof or covers of factories and stores to generate its own energy by means of the installation of solar photovoltaic panels. Decreasing energetic costs = increase in competitiveness. Another possible alternative is obtaining hydrogen by means of electrolysis and its later storage in the own installation, facilitating the integration of the renewable energies to the industry.

Albi, 9th December 2010, FIRST CONTEST FOR IDEAS WAREHOUSE'S VEHICLES forklifts and AGVs Nowadays the logistic centers possess a great number of vehicles (lift trucks, AGVs – auto guided vehicles-...) destined to the transport of goods for the interior of the warehouse. There exist the vehicles that consume fossil fuels – diesel fuel principally-, but the gases of leak proceeding of its combustion, make them inadequate to operate in closed environments. Of all these vehicles, we can observe major number of times, for its usefulness and easy managing, the electric power forklift, supplied by means of batteries. Current problems, associated with electrical forklifts, are the times of load and balanced of the batteries (8/12 hours). This situation provokes " times of wait " unnecessary in which these vehicles are stopped.

Albi, 9th December 2010, FIRST CONTEST FOR IDEAS HYDROGEN AT WAREHOUSE forklifts and AGVs This way, a good solution to the raised problem would be a system which needs short times of load of energy and at the same time, not pollutant-->Hydrogen Fuel-Cells IDEA: Readaptation of the electrical vehicles destined to the displacement of goods inside the store, for vehicles based in the fuel cells. This alone change carries a small modification in the system of storage of energy (batteries ↔ Fuel-cells) due to the fact that the rest of the forklift is electrical.

Albi, 9th December 2010, FIRST CONTEST FOR IDEAS HYDROGEN AT WAREHOUSE forklifts and AGVs System of storage of the hydrogen in the lift truck: A) Use of portable deposits - bottles to pressure - that allow its substitution and exchange of an easy and rapid form for the driver. B) Use of a deposit that it allows the incorporation of the fuel by means of a spout of hydrogen ( similar way to the fuel dispensers in the gas stations ). As for the obtaining of the hydrogen necessary for the transport of these dependent fleets, it might be realized or by means of its acquisition to external companies or by means of the electrolysis of the water. Hydrogen as " energetic vector " : Allowing the storage of energy when surplus exists, for a later use.

Albi, 9th December 2010, FIRST CONTEST FOR IDEAS HY-LOGISTIC small logistic center managed by mobiles robots A mobile robot must be able to move from one point to another to perform a predetermined task The unit must have : A) a sensory system: environmental and robot information B) a system of locomotion: allows the movement C) and an electronic system of control together with its energy supply.

Albi, 9th December 2010, FIRST CONTEST FOR IDEAS HY-LOGISTIC The family of small robots developed (colloquial named MicroBots or Mbots) form a part of an example of a small scale application orientated to the logistics Each one has different storage systems: “Dédalo”→Hydrogen Fuel-Cell “Ulises”→Ultracapacitors “Teseo”→ Lead acid battery

Albi, 9th December 2010, FIRST CONTEST FOR IDEAS HY-LOGISTIC smart logistic center managed by mobile robots The specific task developed by the different Mbots consists of transporting small objects among the different points or final stations. A black line on white bottom indicates possible paths or corridors along which the different Mbots pass. The grid shape structure is constituted by a total of 16 intersections and 16 final stations. The place of withdrawal and delivery of material, is pre-set for the PC through technologies of communication "wireless"
