1 JumpStart Write down your learning style
List 3 strategies that you can think of that go with your particular learning style Example: I am a visual learner and therefore need to use a lot of labeled pictures in biology.

3 I will learn which type of learning style works best for me.
Learning Target I will learn which type of learning style works best for me. This means; I know the 3 types of learning styles I can come up with learning strategies that work best with my learning style.

4 Types of Learning Styles
Auditory Learner Learns best through listening Depends on hearing and speaking as a main way of learning Visual Learner Learns best through images or watching prefer using images, pictures, colors, and maps to organize information Tactile/ kinesthetic Learner Learns best through experiences of doing Learn best with manipulatives or having something in their hands to “play” with

5 Group Posters Break up into the 3 learning style groups
Each team gets a poster and a box of markers Write: The name of your learning style at the top Read the hand-out together that goes with your learning style This is a class set so please don’t write on it! On your poster: 1. What is your Learning Style 2. How do people with that Learning Style learn best? 3. What can people with your learning style benefit from? 4. What are the best and worst types of tests for your learning style?

6 Next Class Period… Your groups will be presenting your posters during the next class periods. Decide who is going to say what Everyone must speak at least once (Reading the title off the poster doesn’t count)

7 Independent Work Time At this time please take out one of the follow:
Homework Independent Reading Book for SILENT reading

8 Meta-Cognition Pick a learning strategy you talked about in your group and tell me how you can use it in science class.
