1 Bacteria Go Away! By: Dana Zahra 7D

2 What is Bacteria?  Bacteria are organisms made up of just one cell. They can be in different shapes like spheres, rods and spirals.  They can multiply themselves each 20 minutes.  Bacteria exist everywhere, inside and on our bodies.  Most of them are harmless and some of them are very useful.  Some bacteria can cause diseases because they are in the wrong place in our body or they are designed that way.

3 Problems and diseases caused by bacteria…  Cholera  Cholera is disease caused by infection of the intestine with the bacterium.  Q Fever  People get infected by breathing in the bacteria, usually while in contact with infected animals, or animal products.  Whooping cough (Pertussis) Whooping cough may start like a cold, with a runny nose, sneezing and tiredness, and then the cough develops, and can be followed by vomiting or gagging. It can be spread to other people by coughing and sneezing.  Tuberculosis Tuberculosis is a bacterial infection that can affect almost any part of the body but most commonly the lungs.

6 List of ways prevent from getting ill…  Wash your hands before cooking or eating and after using the toilet. You can use a hand sanitizer to kill most of the bacteria.  Keep cutting boards and food preparation areas clean by washing them with soap and water and allowing them to dry.  Keep raw food away from cooked food.  Drink plenty of fresh and clean water.  Breathe clean air. Avoid smoky and dusty environments, or places where people are coughing or sneezing.
