TR-42 Initiatives Liaison Reports given once during the week rather than at each Subcommittee (reduces time) –Liaisons from other SDOs –Administrative information to members FTP site, reflector, cover sheets, other items from Subcommittees, Technical Committees, and TIA TR-42 Operational Guide –Updated with method for issuing liaison letters to other SDOs between meetings

TR-42 Initiatives Reviewing document numbering and organization Items reviewed in ISO/IEC JTC1 SC25 WG1 and WG3 produced by TR-42 –TIA 606-A had clauses adopted chapters into ISO/IEC document –TIA 569-B Multi-tenant being reviewed and initiated into addendum to ISO/IEC 18010 –TIA 862 Building Automation Systems reviewed for incorporation into ISO/IEC –TIA 570-A, Residential Cabling Harmonized with ISO/IEC 15018 –TSB140, reviewed and incorporated into ISO/IEC Planning and Installation Guide

TR-42 Initiatives Coordination of Project Team between TR-42, US TAG, and ISO/IEC JTC1 SC25WG3 –Initiative started with focus on industrial cabling –Envision quicker TIA standard that is internationally harmonized (See following 2 slides)

Coordinated Project Team

WG3 Project Team TR-42.9 US, Canada, Mexico Project Team Contribution No Yes Other SDO Other SDO Project Team Contribution No Yes Support SCs (e.g., 42.7) Harmonization

Addendum 2 (Approved to Publish) –Bonding/Grounding of screened twisted-pair cabling Addendum 3 (Approved to Publish) –Fiber Applications Guide Addendum 4 (Approved to Publish) –Recognize Cat 6 and 50/125  m laser- optimized optical fiber and category 6 cabling Addendum to TIA 568-B.1, Commercial Cabling

Addendum 6 (initiating work) –Contains category 6 comments that were tabled for future consideration –This addendum is not viewed to substantially change the current requirements for category 6 connecting hardware Addendum 7 (initiating work) –Modifications to Annex A for non RJ-45 connecting hardware –Expect ballot to forward at February meeting Addendum to TIA 568-B.2, Copper Cabling

All but one technical comment was resolved regarding power separation from telecommunications cabling –Task Group established to resolve issue The revised draft will be out for industry ballot shortly Revision of TIA 569-A, Pathways and Spaces

Revision of TIA 570-A, Residential Cabling New items –Applications table –Termination of cabling within the distribution device (IDC) –Distribution device sizing –Testing –Coaxial cabling –Installation Guide –Administration Need help on upholding RJ-11 Plug specification by manufacturers (can FCC help) Working with SCTE on Coaxial test specification

Out for ballot – June ballot resolution Revision of TIA 758, Customer-owned OSP

Industrial Cabling SC Cabling –Tabulation of environmental parameters defines severity of industrial environment by reference to IEC recognized parameters (accepted as working set)

Ballot for June Meeting TSB 136 – Array Connector Polarity TSB 140 – Fiber Cabling Test Certification Mitigating ESD Problems Data Center Cabling

Ongoing Work DTE Task Group –Defining requirements for delivering power over copper cabling in cooperation with IEEE 802.3af

Work Initiated Study group for next generation copper cabling Draft of TIA-568-C Series incorporating all the addenda and consistent organization

Work Initiated Telecommunications Enclosures Addendum to 568-B.1 –Confusion and improper application of TEs in the field and in the market –Will develop addendum as TIA 569-B nears approval

Forthcoming Work IEEE 802.3 approved working on 10GBASE-T –Unknown what will be required

TR-42 Wish List Electronic rosters for sign-in at meeting –Quorum Call –Track attendance –Hotel room nights –Ease of incorporating database into meeting reports Ballots need ability to be done off-line and indexed within database. Style Guide Initiate review of Engineering Manual Meeting locations need to be pursued
