2. Captive breeding is the process of breeding wild animals under human control Breeding program facilitates biodiversity and can prevent the extinction of a species. Release of the new individuals given the habitat is sustainable, or threat has been minimised. Breeding programs can also reduce the fitness of the species and the genetic diversity of smaller groups.
