Information System (IS) is simply a group of activities and elements, which have been arranged to achieve a certain objective An information system is a combination of hardware, software and telecommunication systems, which can support business operations to increase productivity and help managers make decisions

Business Information System (BIS) is a system that has information processing capabilities that include collecting, processing, storing and disseminating data in the form of information through analytical processing and conveying information that can be used to support business organization's productivity and competitiveness IS professionals strive to solve business/enterprise problems using computing resources

5 Overview of BBIS @OUM The aim of this programme is to develop skilled workforce with strong foundations in information system, in-depth knowledge, concepts and skills of analyzing business information. The programme equips graduates with critical thinking skills to solve problems, ability to understand business requirements and plan business Information Systems with the relevant technology to enhance organizational performance. In addition, in order to give “career value” to the graduates, this program supports the highly popular SAP system syllabus. SAP is the enterprise system widely used by enterprises around the world.

6 Facts and Figures about BBIS @OUM Intake for BBIS starts on Jan 2015 semester There are no mathematics or statistics based courses, instead…. …. focuses more on core business and information system courses Special focus on SAP system as one of the most popular enterprise system used in organizations More than 200 part time tutors involved in conducting the program and dedicated 12 internal lecturers in overseeing the program BBIS received provisional accreditation from MQA in 2014 and on the path for full accreditation once the first cohort of the students are in their final year

16 Duration 4 ½ years (14 semesters) Three intakes per year (Jan, May, Sept) Those with credit transfer could save 1-4 semesters

17 Career Prospects The programme has been designed to meet the country’s growing need of IT and IS professionals with good business knowledge Career options: Business System Analyst, Strategic Planner, Project Manager, IT/MIS Executive/Manager and IT Entrepreneur

18 Entry Requirements Normal Entry Passed SPM/SPMV/MCE or equivalent with credit in Mathematics; AND Passed STPM/HSC or equivalent with at least 2 principals (CGPA 2.00); OR Passed A-Level with at least 2 relevant subjects; AND Passed O-Level or equivalent with credit in Mathematics; OR Passed a recognized Matriculation / Foundation in relevant field with minimum CGPA 2.0 ; OR Passed a recognized Diploma or equivalent in Computer Science / Information Systems / Information Technology / Software Engineering with minimum CGPA 2.5 (CGPA below 2.5 but above 2.0 may be accepted subject to rigorous internal review process); OR Passed a recognized Diploma with CGPA 2.5 and credit in Mathematics in SPM; OR Other qualifications recognized by the Malaysian Government OR

19 Entry Requirements Flexible Entry Malaysian Citizen; AND Be at least 21 years old on 1st of January (application year); AND Passed at least PMR or equivalent; AND Possess prior learning experience and / or knowledge relevant to the programme applied; AND Passed Flexible Entry Assessment

20 1.Complete the OUM application form at http://fastrac.oum.edu.my/ 2. Submit 2 sets of certified IC, all academic certificates and transcripts. 3. Processing fee of RM30.00 (Undergraduate programmes) or RM50.00 (Postgraduate programmes) will be debited to student account. How to Apply?
