The Birth of William Shakespeare William Shakespeare was Born April 23 th, 1564 from his parents Mary Arden and John Shakespeare. He is known to have been born in the Shakespeare family home.

The religion of the Shakespeare Family William Shakespeare is Catholic The Catholic religion was taught in their schools and it was the official religion of England at the time.

The Shakespeare Family The Shakespeare family included John Shakespeare and Mary Shakespeare, William Shakespeare, and his 7 brothers and sisters. William was the third child of Mary and John.

Williams Father Williams father, John Shakespeare married Williams mother, Mary Arden in 1557. Williams father was known to be a town official of Stratford. He was also a business man who had business in tanning, leatherwork and whittawering.

Williams Mother Williams mother did not work outside of the home. She was the youngest daughter of her family and she inherited most of her fathers landowning and farming estate when he passed away.

The marriage of William Shakespeare and Anne Hathaway William married Anne Hathaway, November, 28 th 1582. At the time of the marriage William was 18 years old and Anne was 26 and 3 months pregnant. 7 months later, they had their first daughter, Susanna.

The children of Shakespeare William and Anne had twins shortly after Susanna was born. Their names were Judith and Hamnet and they were born In the February of 1592. Hamnet and Judith were named after Judith and Hamnet Sadler, friends of Shakespeare. Hamnet, Williams only son died in 1596 at only 4 years old.

Shakespeare’s family William’s family was unusually small because at the time, families had lots and lots of children and william only had two kids. Williams family include His Wife, Anne, his daughter, Susanna, and his only twin that survived, Judith.

Shakespeare’s Works Shakespeare had a total of 37 plays and 154 sonnets. A couple plays that you might recognize are Romeo and Juliet, Hamlet, and Julius Caesar.

The death of William Shakespeare William died, April 23 rd 1616 at the age of 52. Four weeks before his death, on March 25,1616 William made his Last Will and Testament. William Shakespeare was buried on April 25 th 1616 in Holy Trinity Church.

More on Shakespeare’s death His tombstone were inscribed with words which are to have been written by Shakespeare himself, “Good friend for Jesus sake forbear To dig the dust enclosed here! Blest be the man that spares these stones, And curst be he that moves my bones”

The death of Anne Hathaway His wife, Anne Hathaway died in 1623 at the age of 67. She was buried next to William in the Holy Trinity Church.

Not only did Shakespeare write plays and sonnets, but also he also performed in a number or his own plays and those by other playwrights.
