4 Technology and Information Sharing  Generate and share information on major TRI programs with regional offices, transit industry and other FTA staff and repositories.  Assist in the maintenance of the TRI webpage.  Assist in organizing technical meetings and workshops.

5 International Mass Transportation Program (IMTP)  Created by Congress to:  Inform U.S. public transportation community of International technological innovations  Increase global competitiveness of U.S. transit industry  Activities include trade promotion, technology exchange, training programs, and personnel exchanges.

6 International Mass Transportation Program (IMTP) [continued]  Trade promotions include research of marketing opportunities; trade missions to other countries; reverse trade missions to the U.S.; coordination of international exhibits of U.S. transit products and services; publication of international tenders for the U.S. transit industry.  Technology exchanges are accomplished by conducting technical meetings and workshops both in the U.S. and in other countries.  Training programs are accomplished by classroom instruction and practical training in planning and operating mass transit systems.  Personnel exchanges with other governments to allow officials to view U.S. best practices and innovative transit technologies.

7 Training and Outreach  Training Examples: Southern California Regional Transit Training Consortium to prepare and conduct training for transit agencies in Southern California; Community Transportation Development Center to train vehicle mechanics.  Outreach Examples: Serve as liaison to TRB and TCRP Panels, 511 National Deployment Coalition, Global Road Safety Working Group, USDOT Iraq Reconstruction Task.

8 National Transit Institute  $4.2 million annually authorized in SAFETEA-LU.  Courses typically 2-3 days; conducted throughout U.S.  Courses developed in coordination with transit industry, FTA program offices, and regional offices  www.ntionline.org
