2 Color Color is the reflection or refraction of light. See the example below

3 Primary Colors Yellow Red Blue These three colors when mixed make the other colors.

4 Secondary Colors Orange Green Violet These colors are made by mixing two primary colors together.

5 Intermediates or Tertiary Colors Yellow-green Yellow-orange Red-violet Red-orange Blue-green Blue-violet These come between a primary and secondary color.

6 Aspects of Color Value:Light and dark, referred to as tone. Hue: Is the name of a spectral color. Intensity: How pure a color is,or how bright or dull. Chagall

10 Intensity: How pure or bright a color is. You dull a color by adding its’ opposite color on the color wheel African painting

13 Color Schemes Monochromatic: One color with tints and shades.Tint is when you add white, shade when you add black. Complementary: Colors opposite on the color wheel. An example is violet and yellow. Analogous: 3-5colors next to each other on the color wheel.

14 Color Schemes continued… Warm colors rev us up and get us going. The warmth of red, yellow, or orange can create excitement or even anger. Cool colors are made with blue, green, purple, or some combination of these. Cool colors might make you think of cool and peaceful things, like winter skies and still ponds.
