2 Reasons for the Fall of Rome The introduction of Christianity made Roman citizens more pacifist so they were less involved in war and spent money on churches instead of maintaining the empire. The health of Roman citizens brought them down. Water was brought threw lead pipes which made them more vulnerable to lead poisoning. The continuous spread of blood spread many diseases. As Rome stopped conquering new lands their flow of gold decreased. Since there was less gold their coins were less valuable, and to make up for the lost value merchants increased prices. The continuous spending on military because of the barbaric attacks drained the government. So there were not able to spend any money on more needed resources, so the empires were forced to raise taxes.
