Let’s start with Australia…

Australia has 6 provinces. What are they? Do you remember which one Mick Dundee lived in?

Australia and the United States are fairly close in size…

Where do most of the people live in Australia?

The east coast of Australia has a mild climate so that’s why most people live there

When would be the best time to visit the east coast of Australia?

Sydney is the biggest city…

Its Opera House is world famous…

Sydney’s famous Bondi Beach

Canberra is Australia’s capital city

Brisbane

Brisbane is close to many wildlife sanctuaries…

…including the one established by the late Steve Irwin…

…and the Great Barrier Reef

Melbourne

Melbourne is on Australia’s southern coast

What are some other interesting places in Australia?

The mining town of Coober Pedy

Coober Pedy is so hot that most people choose to live underground

A Fence thousands of miles long has been built to control them

Homes in Australia have a distinctive look…

Aborigines are the original inhabitants of Australia

Aborigines hunt with spears, rocks, and boomerangs

How to Throw a Boomerang Find a large, open, grassy area DO NOT throw the boomerang at people or in large crowds! Remember – it was used as a weapon!

How to Throw a Boomerang Check the wind direction Face the wind then turn about 45 degrees from it When you are set to throw, tilt the boomerang to about the 1 o’clock position Wind Throw

How to Throw a Boomerang Your aim point should be about 20 degrees above your line of sight Just imagine a tree way in front of you and aim for its top

How to Throw a Boomerang Hold it by the proper end – the curved side should be facing you and the flat side facing away from you Use a pinch grip (between thumb and index finger) or cradle grip (with all four fingers)

How to Throw a Boomerang When you throw you have to create the spin Flick your wrist backwards before snapping it forwards You don’t have to throw it hard – concentrate on the spin first!

Spinning the boomerang as you throw is perhaps the most important deciding factor in whether your boomerang returns to you or not. You can give your boomerang spin by cocking your wrist backwards, then snapping it forwards as you throw. You shouldn't just release the boomerang -- it should be ripped from your grip by the force of the spin

How to Throw a Boomerang If you try and catch it, do so by snatching it between your two open palms Watch out! Getting hit in the head might not be pleasant

They make music with hollowed-out logs called didgeridoos
