The Stand On A Better World Scholarship will award five $1,000 scholarships to Salem County students who have demonstrated a commitment to community service and plan to continue their education beyond high school. Mannington has always been a company that cares about the community it calls home – namely, Salem County. This scholarship is designed to recognize and reward others who share this philosophy. The scholarship is solely funded from our employees by donations and fundraisers. The link to our website is here for your use and distribution to students, family, or friends. 18 Welcome Salem County Going Green Project Sponsored by Mannington Mills and Salem County Schools, New Jersey This project is designed for teachers in Salem County, New Jersey, Grades 1 through 12 to help them engage students in activities that encourage conservation, recycling and environmental awareness. Become an integral part of the movement across Salem County to bring environmental awareness and activities right into the classrooms of county schools, with Mentoring from Mannington Mills. Through a sequence of workshops over a year, teachers will learn about environmental issues, how they can be applied to their classroom and how their schools can Going Green with students assessing whether their school is accomplishing their goals Congratulations to Mannington Mills for receiving these awards: The NJASCD award for Partnerships in Education. 20 o continue effective usage of metrics & audits in schools o continue to seek recycling improvements in schools o explore organic composting options (ex. Wilmington Organic Recycling Center – Peninsula Compost Inc.) o develop a helpful mechanism to “measure” the qualitative changes in students (“journal” idea) o support & engage in county-wide efforts regarding renewable energy options for schools (solar, wind, geothermal, etc.) o include an energy supplier to discuss electricity at the fall meeting.
