A linking verb connects the subject of a sentence with a noun or adjective in the predicate

A linking verb connects the subject of a sentence with a noun or adjective in the predicate. An Action verb tells what the subject of a sentence does.

5 Linking Verbs Predicate noun is a noun that follows a linking verb. It tells what the subject is. Sam is a pitcher Predicate Adjective is an adjective that follows a linking verb. It describes the subject by telling what it is like. The Pitcher is skillful
