3. Before you go, prepare ahead Check out the fairs’ websites’ list of registered recruiters; decide which you plan to talk with. Research your top picks’ websites to learn about them and their hiring needs. Develop a short “commercial” show them why you’re interested and how you’re a fit for them. Print about 10-20 copies of your résumé, tailored to your targeted employers. Carry your resumes and notes in a portfolio folder to keep them neat and organized.

6. Review the companies and plan your strategy before you begin.

7. Tell friends what you’re looking for so they can let you know about additional opportunities.

8. Practice with one or two before you talk to the recruiters you are targeting.
