17 UNI Background UNI is a comprehensive institution. Not regional, in that we have a statewide mission. Total enrollment (Fall 2009) is 13,080. 86.3% of these students are undergraduates. For incoming freshmen, mean ACT is 23 and mean high school rank is 71 st %ile.

23 Full Participation in UNI Efforts In general, Admissions at the university has changed its model from sitting back, merely responding to student inquiries and evaluating applications. It is now actively recruiting students applications and improving the yield for those admitted.

33 Retention UNI is doing this quite well, especially among our peers. 82.3% of 2008 first-time, full-time students returned for Fall 2009 The rate for MA Public Universities is 69.8%. The overall national rate is 65.9%.
