2 Daily lessons – 5/10 minute mental/oral starter/Individual work/plenary. Working in differentiated groups so all pupils are challenged. Support rotates between groups 4 lesson per week working through National Curriculum areas. 1 lesson every Friday on Mental Arithmetic

3 Daily lessons – 1 being comprehension. Coverage of different genres including poetry, instructions, story writing, information, explanation and persuassion. Working in differentiated groups so all children are challenged and given appropriate tasks. Additional shorter sessions on spelling, handwriting and guided reading.

4 Independent reading for 10/15 minutes after break. Staff to rotate between different groups – record in reading record. Children to take reading record/books home – encourage to update when reading.

5 2 different topics in the first term (Moving and Growing, Bright Lights) 1 topic in Spring term (Legendary Worlds) and 1 topic in Summer term (Journeys) Cross curricular topics covering a range of subjects

6 Outdoor PE every Monday afternoon – children will need appropriate warm clothing AND footwear – NAME LABELLED Outdoor PE includes invasion and net games Indoor PE every Wednesday/Thursday morning – shorts and t-shirt. Includes dance and gymnastics Weekly swimming in Spring and Summer term so swimming kit needed. Newly pierced ears wont be able to swim.

7 Weekly lessons covering topics such as Moving and Growing, Changing State, Habitats, Electricity Look at investigating skills and questioning.

8 Mostly linked with topics Cover areas such as collecting, organising and sharing information, control and research.

9 Romans and Celts / Saxons and Vikings linked to topic Settlements, China and Caribbean linked to topics.

10 Linked to our topics – moving and growing, China and Caribbean. We are learning to play the recorder.

11 2 are planned – 1 in Spring term to Jorvik centre linked to Saxons and Vikings and 1 in Summer term to Old Moor linked to habitats unit. As last year, voluntary contributions are required and if we don’t get enough they will not go ahead – like last year.

12 Weekly topic based homework intended to consolidate or introduce topics. Maths homework fortnightly 100 high frequency words in front of learning logs to learn Times aren’t provided but a small amount of time should be spent on them. License to present homework as children want – link to LO

13 Enourage children to go at appropriate times – immediately before or after break and lunch – Very disruptive during lessons.

14 House points for ‘catching them being good’ in terms of behaviour Points systems within class to gain reward time of Friday afternoon Pride box – To publicise children who have done something that they are proud of.

15 Class charter – designed and signed by children. Mutual Respect Code of Conduct – followed by all with big focus of pride and respect. Red Stickers – Children who shout out during class or distract others – leads to missed playtimes. Individual targets – Children need to earn targets to earn treat at end of term.
