PERSONAL READING PROCEDURE CARLEY ELZNIC

Knowing how to properly read and comprehend what you are reading is very important. But different people have different ways to comprehend readings. This all depends on who YOU are.

THERE ARE MANY LEARNING STYLES THAT YOU CAN USE, AND TODAY I AM TELLING YOU WHAT SOME WAYS ARE.

BODILY KINESTHETIC How to know if you are Bodily Kinesthetic When you are bodily kinesthetic you use your body and sense of touch to learn about new things. You usually like to do physical activities. How do Bodily Kinesthetic learners learn? They use a more physical style, by touching, action, movement and hands on work. They describe their physical feelings of an action they do.

BODILY KINESTHETIC LEARNERS DON’T LIKE WORKSHEETS OR READING BOOK RIGHT AWAY

THEY LIKE TO DO PROJECTS THAT HAVE TO DO WITH HANDS ON THINGS.

BEFORE THEY READ Make charts and graphs Draw pictures Use their tactile senses Skim quickly over words Make flashcards Do creative things Write down questions they are wondering about the reading.

AFTER THEY READ Do projects that help them remember what they read. Be creative with the projects. Think about things they have done in the past to help them remember the information. They go back and read things over or do actions to help with it. Being active in everything they do help them remember.

NATURALISTIC How to know if you are Naturalistic? You like to learn about the learning paths of living things. You like to find scientific reason about the world.

Naturalistic learners are much like Bodily Kinesthetic learners, they aren’t the people who want to jump into reading right away. They like to start with projects or doing things outside.

BEFORE THEY READ Draw pictures. Skim over words quickly. Make connections to things they do outside. Be creative. Highlight any points they think might be important so they know their mind will go back to it.

AFTER THEY READ They would again make connections about what they read. Do fun and creative projects. Ask themselves questions about what they learned and answer them. Take notes after they have read and off things they have highlighted.

MUSICAL How to know if you are a Musical learner? They enjoy school activities such as music performance and appreciation, band, choir, orchestra, and writing poetry or songs. They hum or drum out beats with there hands. They are also very creative in other areas besides music.

Musical learners learn best when people speak to them or give them instructions through words. They also have good auditory memory.

BEFORE THEY READ They skim over the titles and main ideas and read them out loud. They look at all the charts and pictures. They highlight things they think would be important to remember. Write down questions.

AFTER THE READ Take notes Answer the questions they wrote. Summarize what you all read. Do creative things with music (or other areas) that will help them remember what they have read.

INTRAPERSONAL How to know if you are Intrapersonal? They are better at working alone. They set individual goals. Independent and organized.

BEFORE THEY READ Skim over headings, titles. Write questions about what they skimmed over. Highlight things they think might be more important. Stay organized with how they approach the reading.

AFTER THEY READ Answer all of there questions they wrote. Take organized notes. Summarize what they read. Relate things that they read to things they know.

Critical Thinking The mode of thinking which the thinker improves the quality of his or her thinking by skillfully analyzing, assessing, and reconstructing it. All learning styles think critically in their own ways to help them better understand what they are reading and help they be more active as a reader.

WHAT I DO BEFORE AND AFTER READING.

BEFORE READING Before I start reading I usually look over all of they main points like headings, titles, and pictures if any highlighted should be needed then I will highlight parts I think might be important for me to go back and read over. Then I ask myself or write down questions that I might have on they topic we are reading about. I figure out how I am going to go about reading the sections and when I am going to do them.

AFTER READING Usually after I get done reading I take notes about what I read, usually putting the main points and putting it in my own words so it is easier for me to remember. Also summarizing what I have read which will also be in my own words. I will relate things to what I know, have done or read. I would also answer the questions I wrote before I started reading or even during reading, if needed ask a teacher.
