2 The Ukrainian Catholic University -  Is building a university that is academically and architecturally unique to Ukraine.  Is developing academic programs that meet the highest international educational standards. More than a third of UCU graduates continue their studies in masters and doctoral programs abroad.  Is a place of scholarship that emphasizes social awareness and responsibility within an ecumenical spiritual dimension.  Is open to representatives of all religions and denominations.  Is fully funded by non-government donors, the only such university in Ukraine, yet where budget contribution from student tuition is also less than five percent annually.  Is based in Lviv, Ukraine and is the only Catholic university on the territory of the former Soviet Union.  Is led by dynamic scholars, including UCU President Bishop Borys Gudziak, PhD, a graduate of Harvard University.  Is fulfilling the vision of Metropolitan Andrey Sheptytsky that one day in Ukraine there would be such a university. The Ukrainian Catholic University is an open academic community living the Eastern Christian tradition – for the glory of God, the common good, and the dignity of the human person.
