3 Western Kentucky University Child Care Resource & Referral Certification Qualifications Be at least 18 years of age Written Statement from Physician Two written Character References Criminal Record Check Child Abuse or Neglect Check Negative TB Skin Test

4 Western Kentucky University Child Care Resource & Referral Before Inspection of the Home Cost for submission of application: $10 Contact planning and zoning board All required forms Obtain liability insurance

5 Western Kentucky University Child Care Resource & Referral Inspection of Home Appointment with Representative of the Department for Regulated Child Care Inspection can occur unannounced if caring for over three children before certification occurs

6 Western Kentucky University Child Care Resource & Referral Additional Information in packet Child Care Food Program Sponsors Child Care Resource & Referral Vaccination information Children and Parent Rights Regulations

7 Western Kentucky University Child Care Resource & Referral Training Requirements 6 hours of Orientation for Early Care and Education Professionals (to occur within 90 days of certification) 6 clock hours per year Infant/child CPR and infant/child first aid

8 Type II Cabinet for Health and Family Services Division of Regulated Child Care Licensed Family Child Care Homes Serving 7 to 12 children in a home

9 Western Kentucky University Child Care Resource & Referral Licensed Type II Qualifications Meet requirements of a Type I, or Be at least 21 years of age Have a high school diploma or GED Orientation for Early Care and Education Professionals (6 hours) and Child Development Training (6 hours) Not be employed elsewhere during hours of operation

10 Western Kentucky University Child Care Resource & Referral And meet one of the following: Certificate in child development services, or One year verifiable, full-time paid experience working directly with children, or Obtain 6 additional hours of training in administration (total of 18 hours)

11 Western Kentucky University Child Care Resource & Referral Before licensing visit Request the licensing packet Submission of licensing packet: $50 Contact zoning, planning, neighborhood Visit from fire marshal May request consultation from Division of Regulated Child Care (written)

12 Western Kentucky University Child Care Resource & Referral Training Requirements 6 hours of Orientation for Early Care and Education Professionals 6 additional hours the first year Total of 12 clock hours per year Minimum of 1 person on site who is trained in infant/child CPR and infant/child first aid

13 Type I Cabinet of Health and Family Services Division of Regulated Child Care Licensed Child Care Center Serving over 13 children in out of home care

14 Western Kentucky University Child Care Resource & Referral Licensed Type I Qualifications Be at least 21 years of age Have a high school diploma or GED Not be employed elsewhere during hours of operation

15 Western Kentucky University Child Care Resource & Referral Also meet one of the following Master’s degree in ECE Bachelor’s degree in ECE Master’s or Bachelor’s degree in field other than ECE plus 12 hours of child development training Associate’s degree in ECE Associate’s degree in field other than ECE plus 12 hours of child development training and 2 years verifiable full time paid experience working directly with children

16 Western Kentucky University Child Care Resource & Referral CDA plus 1 year verifiable paid experience working directly with children Diploma in Child Development Services from KY Tech 3 years verifiable full-time paid experience working directly with children
