7 New Social Studies TAKS Accountability In 2007 and 2008, 65% of all students and all student groups had to meet the minimum standard on the TAKS. 70%  I N 2009 and 2010, 70% OF ALL STUDENTS AND ALL STUDENT GROUPS MUST MEET THE MINIMUM STANDARD!

11 Closing the Achievement Gap How do we do this? – Benchmark testing, Six / Nine Weeks Testing Grade-level teams engaged in the Analyze, Interpret, Modify process Departmental MoY / TAKS Data Analysis – Teacher-led problem-solving through Professional Learning Communities Concerted Effort in Designing Differentiated Instruction to meet the needs of students with special needs – IPGs and Conceptual Overviews Commitment to following with integrity the recommended pacing put forward in the district’s Instructional Pacing Guides in order to ensure that the full breadth of course knowledge potentially assessed on May 1 has indeed been covered in the classroom. – Support Staff and Materials
