10. Navigating high school successfully! Make sure your child is here everyday and on time. There is a high correlation between poor grades and poor attendance. Make sure you have the e-mail addresses and phone extensions for your child’s teachers. In addition, know when the teacher is available for tutoring. Do not wait for progress reports. Access the Parent Portal at least once a week. Contact the teacher immediately if your child is struggling. Get access to your child’s Accelerated Reader account. Reading is 20% of the English grade and it includes summer reading.
