3 How Is it relevant in video ? For video operations the relevant temperatures range from around 2,000K to 8,000K — these are common lighting conditions. In practical terms this usually means selecting lights, gels and filters which are most appropriate to the prevailing light or to create a particular color effect. For example, a camera operator will select a "5600K filter" to use outside in the middle of a sunny day.

6 Image stabilization Image stabilization is a form of technology used to stabilize an image for a much clearer picture. Used in both still and video cameras, image stabilization is one of the most popular features to include in a camera. In the past, the technology used to be reserved only for the higher end of camera models, but it has since been expanded as a feature in most cameras sold, due to price reductions in the technology. Image stabilization helps to steady the image projected back into the camera by the use of a "floating" optical element—often connected to a fast spinning gyroscope— which helps to compensate for high frequency vibration (hand shake for example) at these long focal lengths.

7 Advantage: -Reduces shaky, jittery video without sacrificing video quality -Works well in low-light -Great for long-range shooting Disadvantages: -Camcorders with OIS are typically bigger and heavier in size -OIS is a more expensive technology than EIS -Battery power drains quicker with this feature

8 Advantages: -EIS camcorders are usually more affordable than OIS models -Camcorder with built-in EIS are often times smaller and lighter than OIS models -If you film in brightly-lit areas, EIS works almost as effectively as OIS Disadvantages: -EIS isn't always 100% accurate, so it may affect the video quality -Works poorly in dimly-lit areas (i.e., concerts, night shooting, indoors) -Doesn't work as well as OIS when at full-zoom (especially when using digital zoom)

9 Digital IS - Digital image stabilization only involves using software and digital camera settings to minimize the effects of camera shake. Essentially, digital IS increases the ISO sensitivity, which is the measurement of the camera's sensitivity to light. With the camera able to create an image from less light, the camera can shoot at a faster shutter speed, which minimizes blur from camera shake. Working Without IS Mount your camera on a tripod. Use the camera's viewfinder, rather than the LCD, to frame the shot. Steady yourself as you shoot by leaning against a wall or door frame. Brace your elbows against the side of your body and hold the camera with two hands. Shoot at a fast shutter speed all of the time, which isn't always a practical option.
