English Mathematics Science Religious Education Physical Education PSHEE – Personal, social, health and economic education Careers Citizenship Enterprise ICT All students must also have the opportunity of continuing to study a modern foreign language.

Engage Enable Empower Thornleigh Salesian College - A Sports College About RE and PE In addition to the Government the governors of a school are expected to have an input as to the nature of the school’s curriculum. Our school is a Catholic school and a Sports College. Both dimensions are not only at the heart of the ethos of our community but are also at the heart of our curriculum. All students follow a GCSE course in Religious Education. All students will follow a Physical Education course for 2 periods / week which will develop the individual’s use of sport as a vehicle to enhance their personal, physical and mental wellbeing.

Students learn about how to apply their ICT skills to solving problems in the real world. All students are entered for an exam so no one should leave Thornleigh without a qualification in ICT.

This MAY involve: Being entered early for a GCSE in Year 10. Being entered for an additional qualification. Being entered for a course that doesn’t have a formal examination but is assessed through a portfolio.

10. Engage Enable Empower Thornleigh Salesian College - A Sports College Continuity and Progression. Thornleigh hosts the Catholic Post-16 provision for all of Bolton. We work as part of a collaborative group called the North West Catholic College Consortium. We offer courses to provide an appropriate pathway from school to further education for all of our students. It is not too early to start to think about matching courses to careers and further study.
