11 11  Hands-on, skill-building learning projects  Led by volunteers called Citizen Teachers who share their passion and expertise  Emphasize 21 st Century or New Basic Skills, like leadership, oral and written communication, scientific thinking skills, and technology  Culminate in young people producing something of value for the community Apprenticeship Learning Apprenticeships leverage more learning time, more caring adults, and rigorous learning to help low income students prepare for success in school, college and life

15 15 3 ways we seek to impact our students:  Informing Beliefs - belief in their own ability to succeed, that school and their community will help them get there, that they can overcome challenges, that it will be worth it.  Building Skills- study skills, writing, math, critical analysis, self-advocacy, teamwork, skills needed to succeed in and out of school.  Providing Access - opportunities to see new and exciting places, meet people that have done things they hope to do, do and try things they’ve never done before. Think back to a person or experience in your life that had this impact on you. Pause and Reflect
