1 Welcome 12 th September 2013

2 Introduction Biggleswade and District Camera Club (BDCC) is a photographic club for photographers of all ages and abilities. The club is a place to meet others with a shared interest and help all members improve their photographic skills and knowledge in a relaxed friendly environment.

3 Club Aims Continue to promote photography in and around Biggleswade Perform strongly in regional competitions Help all members become better photographers by: – Informal outings – Mentoring – Studio evenings – Members evenings

4 Past Season Highlights 2013 Melbourn Cup winners Central Cup Challenge winners 2011 and 2012 First place in 3 way club battle Several members have regular success at national and international level

5 BDCC – Your Money BDCC is a self supporting club, the members fees are all invested into the running of the club. – Room rent – Speakers – Judges – Equipment (laptop, projector, screen, studio lighting etc.) The raffle is a vital fundraiser, so please support generously.

6 East Anglian Federation of Photographic Societies (EAF) One of 15 constituent members of the Photographic Alliance of Great Britain (PAGB) Founded in 1910 There are 124 affiliated clubs under the EAF umbrella, East of the M1 and up to the Lincolnshire border Provides list of approved judges, competitions, awards and promotes the advancement of photography

7 2013 Programme The club season will run from 12 th September until 1 st May 2014. The season will include: – 7 Experienced guest speakers – 10 Club competition evenings – 5 Practical Evenings – 3 Social events – 1 AGM – And much more Please note that for insurance purposes we now require all attendees to tick the register each week.

9 Competition Rules http://www.biggleswadecameraclub.co.uk/competition_rules.html Members are encouraged to enter new work. Each image may be used up to 3 times, this includes combinations of print and PDI (projected digital image) : – Once in the Challenge Cup Competition – Once in either the Portfolio Competition, People Competition or Theme Competition – Once in the Print of the Year Competition or PDI of the Year Competition. – It cannot then be entered in subsequent seasons. PDI entries must be emailed by 23:59 the Sunday prior to the competition or 19:45 on the evening for prints.

10 Resizing Images for Projection Please take a moment at the start of the season to ensure you know how to submit the PDIs correctly Instructions are on the BDCC website If in doubt, please ask any of the experienced members

11 Housekeeping The success of BDCC is not by accident. The club is run by the members for the members and a huge amount of effort goes on behind the scenes Please help by assisting in whatever way you can Do buy raffle tickets Do buy drinks at the bar Do participate in the evenings Do help tidy the room at the end of the evening Constructive feedback is always welcome via the committee
