5 MIDDLE SCHOOL Section now fits on 14 pages Did expand some competitions especially in Wood and Metals

6 High SCHOOL Wood Metals Materials CNC Communication/ Print Media Multimedia & Animation Photography Drafting/CAD Construction/ Modeling Applied Technical Science

7 HIGH SCHOOL Section now fits on 34 pages Did expand some competitions especially in CNC area

8 SIGNIFICANT CHANGES The following Career Clusters are now approved by TEA to participate in Texas Technology Student Association events and competitions: Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math Manufacturing Architecture & Construction Arts, A/V Technology, & Communications Information technology Health Science Transportation, Distribution & Logistics Law, Public Safety, Corrections, & Security

9 SIGNIFICANT CHANGES Levels - Middle School Level 1 – Students who have not successfully completed ONE (1) Technology Education course –MS students who complete a semester level course keep their level 1 status for that school year Middle School Level 2 – Students who have successfully completed ONE (1) or more Technology Education)

10 SIGNIFICANT CHANGES Levels - High School Level 1 – Students who have not successfully completed TWO (2) full-credit High School Career and Technical courses (see list for approved Career Clusters) High School Level 2 – Students who have successfully completed TWO (2) OR MORE full-credit High School Career and Technical courses or are enrolled in an Independent Studies course such as Research and Design or Problem Solving and Solutions. Semester courses counts as ½ credit unless it is accelerated semester (1 credit)

11 SIGNIFICANT CHANGES We have done away with Course based awards We have split High Point and HP Average into 2 categories Project Onsite (includes NQEs)

12 SIGNIFICANT CHANGES To be considered for the Best in State patch and/or 1st place (Onsite), the individual entries must have appropriate documentation. Entries which have no documentation may qualify for a ribbon but projects which have documentation will be given greater consideration over those lacking documentation if the projects are of equal quality, level of workmanship, etc...

13 SIGNIFICANT CHANGES Middle School Level 1: 5 projects per region for each classification Middle School Level 2: 5 projects per region for each classification High School Level 1: 10 projects per region for each classification High School Level 2: 10 projects per region for each classification

14 SIGNIFICANT CHANGES Protest Committee Members: Contest Director, Texas TSA Executive Director, Texas TSA Board of Directors President, State Advisor, Corporate Member, and Rulebook Committee Chairperson is authorized to convene and make any necessary decisions. - If full membership is not available then a quorum of 3 members, which must include the Contest Director, Texas TSA Executive Director, and the Texas TSA Board of Directors President, is authorized to convene and make any necessary decisions.

15 SIGNIFICANT CHANGES HS Advisors cannot be used to judge HS projects and the same will hold true for Middle School advisors.

20 HS CAD CHANGES 2-21-08 TITLE BLOCK – student names, school name, chapter number, and address will be allowed (change from what is in rulebook) COVER SHEETS – no cover sheets w/ school logos and names allowed MOUNTED DRAWINGS – Can be mounted on fixed board only if it does not exceed the size of the drawing by ½” on each side

21 HS CAD CHANGES 2-21-08 STUDENT CREATED LOGOS (NOT ASSOCATED WITH SCHOOL MASCOT/LOGO IS ALLOWED

22 FUTURE CHANGES Application Form – used to request changes to rulebook – can be submitted by anyone but will require some documentation Changes to Written Exam and Graphic Solution – away from course to a more broader category based contest or possible elimination Next year

23 FUTURE CHANGES Reorganize Middle section into 9 main categories (no project entries lost) Update Robotics sections Next year
