3 International Inspiration Vision To enrich the lives of millions of children and young people of all abilities, in schools and communities across the world, through the power of high quality and inclusive physical education, sport and play

5 II Malaysia - outcomes Key themes Extended access to high quality PE and sport to those with special educational needs and potential future Paralympians. Increased coaching skills of teachers and coaches to include child protection and life skills (with an HIV and AIDS education and awareness component) through sport. Exploration and modeling of the role of sport in the national drive towards Positive discipline in schools. Creation of a culture of sport in Malaysia.

6 Outcomes of the debrief day: All schools will have: 1) Submitted a final copy of their joint partnership development plans signed by representatives from both schools and signed off by BC and YST

7 Outcomes of the debrief day 2) Reviewed and agreed an effective partnership communication strategy 3) A clear understanding of their role and responsibilities in delivering year 1 of their joint development plan

11 International Inspiration international school partnerships International school partnerships are at the heart of International Inspiration 20 countries, 600 schools Aims: –Share good practice and take an innovative approach in the use of Physical Education, sport and play –Benefit children, young people and the wider community –Work together to enhance the educational experience of young people using PE and sport as the vehicle –Record and share work through a published case study

15 Developing the Partnership plan One joint plan agreed by both the UK/Malaysian schools. An emphasis on PE and sport being at the heart of the plan: To improve the quality of PE and sport in both schools To use PE and sport as a development tool to achieve wider outcomes

16 The Case Study A common overarching theme agreed by both schools The area of work/project identified from the partnership plan A link with the key themes from the Malaysia CP: Marginalised children Children with special needs Leadership and life skills

17 Support for your partnerships -Effective communication: - with your partner school – the determining factor of the success of the partnership -networking with other schools in your province/region -BC and YST -E-Languages

22 Next steps Final version of joint development plan submitted DEADLINE FRI 30 JULY - by email to Vinayagi.Gopal@britishcouncil.org.my Funding released to schools by end of September End of Yr1 of JDP: July 2011: update plan for Yr 2 activity and budgets, and re-submit for release of funds for Yr 2 End of Yr 2 of JDP: case study to be submitted (one per school) in Jan 2012. Make use of E-languages Let us know if there are communication problems
