Maine Partners in Nursing Education and Practice Five priorities for Maine include: Develop and implement nursing core competencies for the Nurse of the Future Create paths for innovation in nursing education Re-imagine nursing education and practice as we reflect on future patient needs Involve a broad coalition of stakeholders Build bridges and partnerships between education and practice to develop models for entering and re-entering nursing practice.

Grant Value Increasing population of elder residents in Maine Patients want to remain in their own homes Movement toward more cost-efficient healthcare Identified need for home health education in nursing curriculum

Grant Goals Introduce home health care into the nursing student curriculum Collaboration with Maine nursing school faculty Innovative process : on-line education Companion learning to clinical placements Home health education to promote home healthcare as a viable future professional choice

On-Line Modules Home Care Institute maintains a Core Library of computer-based training home health modules –Approved for nursing education by the American Nurses Credentialing Center Three modules for the grant: –Home Care: Beyond the Basics –OASIS-C Basics –Home Health Covered Services
