1 Warm Up #1 (Oct. 6, 2014) Look over Chapter 1 in textbook. Write 3-4 sentences about what you observed in this chapter.

2 Warm Up #2 (Oct. 7, 2014) Write 3-5 goals you plan to work towards accomplishing in this class this next 6 weeks.

3 Warm Up #3 (Ch. 1 sec. 2 will help ) 10/8/14 WRITE EVERYTHING! 1.Use section 1.2 and find an example of a culture trait. Describe it in detail. 2.Name four types of economies and explain which type of economy the U.S. has and tell why. (support your answer with text evidence) p. 32 will help you. 1.Inuit greet with a nose rub, Japanese men bowing with meeting, French women kissing cheeks. 2.Traditional, Command, Market, Mixed. U.S. has mixed economy because businesses make their own decisions. The gov’t however does regulate some business decisions.

5 Warm Up #5 Oct. 10, 2014 Use the map on pg. 30 to answer the following questions. Write everything! 1.How many world culture regions are represented on the map? 8 2. Which continents have only one culture region? South America, Antarctica, and Australia. 3. Why do you think Africa is split into two cultures? North Africa follows the Arabic culture because of their closeness to Southwest Asia. Africa regions south of the Sahara follow African culture.

7 Warm Up #7 (Oct. 14, 2014) Ch. 1 sec. 2 will help. Write everything! 1.Name the second most widely used language in the world. Why is it the second? English; Because of computer software (technology and world trade) 2. What is history? Study of the past 3. Name two ways history has been shared. By word of mouth and by writing it down

8 Warm Up #8 (Oct. 15, 2014) Kofi Annan, secretary-general of the United Nations, spoke to the General Assembly about globalization. “If one word (describes) the changes we are living through, it is ‘globalization’….What are (the) global issues? I have grouped them under three headings, each of which I relate to a fundamental human freedom…First, freedom from want. How can we call human beings free and equal in dignity when over a billion of them are struggling to survive on less than one dollar a day?...The second…is freedom from fear….We must do more to prevent conflicts from happening at all….The third (is) the freedom of future generations to sustain their lives on this planet….We need to remember the old African wisdom which I learned as a child-that earth is not ours. It is a treasure we hold in trust for our descendants.”
