5 Planning and Constructing the best mobility- focused projects we can, on schedule Making safety investment and improvements where the traveling public is most at risk Taking care of what we have in the most efficient way possible Making GDOT a better place to work will make GDOT a place that works better Policy/ Workforce RTAG Asset Management RTAG Mobility RTAG Safety RTAG VISION Enhancing Georgia’s Competitiveness Through Leadership in Transportation MISSION Georgia DOT provides a safe, connected, and environmentally sensitive transportation system that enhances Georgia’s economic competitiveness by working efficiently and communicating effectively to create strong partnerships. CORE VALUES Flexible Open Committed Unified Successful VISION Enhancing Georgia’s Competitiveness Through Leadership in Transportation MISSION Georgia DOT provides a safe, connected, and environmentally sensitive transportation system that enhances Georgia’s economic competitiveness by working efficiently and communicating effectively to create strong partnerships. CORE VALUES Flexible Open Committed Unified Successful CUSTOMERS GDOT Research Technical Advisory Groups

6 TAMP Evolvement at GDOT 2009 – Peer Exchange with FHWA, Utah & Indiana DOTs 2009/10 –TAM introduced & TAM Director Appointed –Task Force Created –Self Assessment Completed –TAM Policy Established 6 GDOT RP 09-03 Best Practices in Selecting Performance Measures and Standards for Effective Asset Management

9 Content of GDOT’s TAMP I.EXECUTIVE SUMMARY II.INTRODUCTION III.LEVELS OF SERVICE IV.LIFE CYCLE MANAGEMENT a.PAVEMENTS b.BRIDGES c.HIGHWAY SIGNS V.GROWTH AND DEMAND VI.FINANCIAL SUMMARY VII.TAM PRACTICES VIII.PERFORMANCE MANAGEMENT IX.IMPROVEMENT PLAN 9 APPENDIX ASSET MANAGEMENT IMPLEMENTATION PLAN PERFORMANCE MANAGEMENT IMPLEMENTION PLAN

10 Life Cycle Management Define Levels of Service (LOS) for each asset Explain how the LOS will be achieved Identify key issues & strategies for managing these issues Determine approximate value and remaining life of the asset Asset risk and the ways to manage the risk Define revenue plan and historical expenditures Identify data reliability 10

11 Performance Management Performance management evaluates data against targets and goals set in the TAMP Performance Measurement - Dashboard –High level way of sharing information –Informs Public/Staff of Department Priorities –Sets Public Expectations –Celebrates our successes and identifies our challenges 11

12 GDOT DASHBOARD www.dot.ga.gov

13 Highlights of TAMP Evolvement at GDOT Evolved simultaneously with initial TAM efforts Collaborative effort of different GDOT units/offices Plan focuses on pavements, bridges and signs It is a living document; it has already changed twice A separate unit established to focus on TAM and develop the plan 13

14 Where does TAM fit at GDOT? STRATEGIC PLANNING PERFORMANCE MANAGEMENT ASSET MANAGEMENT An effective TAM program requires the coordinated effort of three things 14 RESEARCH

15 What’s Next Named a Risk Manager in 2013 – Pilot for SHRP2 R09- Risk Management in Complex projects Current IT project to develop data warehouse Looking at how to incorporate risk further into TAM, and, how to measure and manage data better …future research projects?
