1 Requirement for PSR Primary Surveillance Radar
PSR is normally associated with a Terminal Service PSR is currently located at 22 sites across Canada Commencing Aeronautical Study to review requirement for PSR at 5 locations: Prince George Regina Sault Ste Marie North Bay Gander Study will consider application of new technology Essentially, Primary Surveillance radar detects moving turbines and generates tracks on air traffic controllers displays. The radar processor assigns speeds to them and they display like an aircraft, tracking for a short while and then dropping off the screen. Over wind farms the result is a clutter like effect that can obscure or entirely block the tracks of aircraft overflying the area. This effect can occur if the wind farm is located within line of site, generally within 80 kms of the Primary Radar.
