3 08/09/2015Tempus Project COMPETENCE3 Exkursus: Definition ‚Competence‘* ► Dynamic combination of attributes (with respect to knowledge and its application, attitudes, skills and responsibilities) to describe the level/degree to which a person is capable of performing them.  integrated approach (including knowing, understanding, knowing how to be, knowing how to act)  Competences must be translated into the curricula (in terms of learning activities) ► GENERIC competences ► SUBJECT SPECIFIC competences (knowledge, skills) * This definition was agreed upon during the kick off meeting of the EU Tempus project COMPETENCE for the use of the term within the project.

T o develop or advance methodologies and tools for assessing the match between skills and competences developed by institutions of higher education and those required by the labour market in four partner WB countries and develop recommendations for curricula adaptation. 2. 2. To found four Competence and Observatory Centres (COC), these will serve as a national knowledge transfer and training centre for relevant stakeholders and as a service centre. 3. 3. To conduct knowledge, skills and competences analyses based on 8 pilot study projects.

6 08/09/2015Tempus Project COMPETENCE6 Main Outputs 1. 1.Developed and advanced an applied methodology for assessing and matching the competences developed at universities and those required by the labour market. 2. 2.Founded four Competence and Observation Centres (COC) 3. 3.Conducted 8 pilot studies of qualifications acquired at universities and those needed by the labour market by applying the methodology developed in the first project phase.

8 08/09/2015Tempus Project COMPETENCE8 Main Features of the Project The project COMPETENCE directly addresses the following Tempus goals: 1. 1.It supports the integration of the selected four countries into the European Qualifications Framework (EQF) – as a part of HE and society goal 1. 1.It contributes to the introduction and development of national Quality Assurance Systems in Higher Education.
