This will be assessed and graded!

Learning Objectives To be able to research and select information related to a particular topic To be able to interpret different types of sources To be able to communicate on a particular topic in a variety of ways

What to do? This half term you are going to carry out an ILC into a historical event, historical people or an important person in history Examples that you could look at are: The Egyptians Winston Churchill The sinking of the Titanic D Day The Black Death There are many, many more…

What do you need? Your project will have: A cover page A contents page An introduction At least 3 sections about your person/ group/ event A conclusion A bibliography

Cover page This will have: Your name (first and last names) Your class Your teachers name The title of your project Some pictures about your project Your parent’s signature

Contents page As you find in a book, you need to have a contents page telling the reader where they can find the different sections of your project, and what they are called

Introduction This should be a separate page telling the reader about: What the topic you have chosen is Why you have chosen that topic What you hoped to find out

Main body There should be at least 3 different sections to your project, each with different headings. For example, if you are doing a project on The Egyptians, you may have sections on ‘Beliefs and Religion’, ‘The Pyramids’ and ‘Daily Life’ These should be relevant and link together in some way

Conclusion This should sum up what you have learnt. It should also include some information about anything you found surprising/ difficult/ easier that expected. Did you enjoy this project? Was it useful? Those sorts of questions/ ideas…

Bibliography For your project it is VERY important that you keep a note of all books you read, web sites you look at, people you speak to, etc. as this is what will be used for your BIBLIOGRAPHY This means your teacher can check that everything is right and that you have used your own words in your project

Sources Sources in history are places where you find information. It is VERY important that you tell the reader where you got your information (in your bibliography) so that they know what is yours and what is not. Pictures (photographs and paintings), newspapers, websites, objects from the time, even interviews with people who were there/ remember the events Use lots of different types of sources, do not just use the internet!!!

When is it due in? Your teacher will give you a specific hand in date. BUT, next lesson you are going to have to tell your teacher what you are going to do your project on. You will have the rest of this lesson to brainstorm ideas in groups and feed back ideas to the class and your teacher.
