2  Difficult to apply one standard set of “human rights” on a global scale due to cultural differences.  West vs. East ideas agree and disagree  Is it necessary to have a collective set of Human Rights for our planet?

3  Accomplished by translating what other people do and what anthropologists do to a 3 rd set of concepts- ”anthropological concepts”  This helps avoid ethnocentrism  Discussion distance example

4  Maladaptive-those that diminish the chances of survival and reproduction  Examples…  Driving habits  Smoking/Drug use  Conflict/Wars  Economic issues

5  It forces you to evaluate and analyze the thoughts and views of other cultures  Helps individuals realize “many paths/solutions”  Assists in asking- “why aren’t we all correct?”

6  The arts, customs, and habits that characterize a particular society or nation;  The beliefs, values, behavior and material objects that constitute a people  Family, friends, media (film, books, t.v., movies…)
