4  In this unit, you were introduced to the use of templates for the purpose of designing business forms and documents. Your wpm goal for this unit should be 52 wpm on a 5 minute timed typing with no more than 5 errors.  Demonstrate proper use templates for the creation and formatting of office forms and documents.  Include accuracy in one’s typing goals.

5 You will complete Supplementary Timed Writing 8 on page SB-35. This will be located in the back of your book under Skillbuilding.

6  Supplementary Timed Writing 8  Seminar  Of course, start practicing your keyboarding to ensure you are prepared for the final timed writing!

8  You will use and design office forms. They use templates provided in Microsoft Word to create letters, memos and reports.

9  When creating, sizing, or positioning a text box, change to a Whole Page document view for easier positioning of the text box. Zoom in closer when entering text.

10  Rules are:  Use comparative adjectives and adverbs (-er, more, and less) when referring to two nouns or pronouns.  Use superlative adjectives and adverbs (-est, most, and least) when referring to more than two.

11  Comparative, page 399: ◦ The smaller of the two classes will meet in the gym. ◦ The taller of the two men never considered playing basketball.  Superlative, page 400: ◦ Of the three runners, she is the fastest. ◦ The shortest of the training sessions is the least helpful.

12  Review the rules for using comparative and superlative adjectives and adverbs.  Provide at least 2 additional examples for each.

13  Page 400, make the necessary corrections to lines 8- 10.  These sentences contain comparative and superlative errors.  Go ahead and type the complete (correct) sentence. ;-) ◦ This is a great time to practice your speed! ;-)

15  The next Language Arts rule is found on page 400 in your text. Top of page.  Noun verb agreement, with a twist.  Look also on page R19 in your Reference Manual, Rule #28.

17  This week you are introduced to the correspondence and report templates found in Word.  When working with templates, keep the following in mind:  It is better to first select text that is to be replaced and begin typing, rather than deleting the text.  Deleting the text can also delete embedded formatting.

18  Let’s discuss the advantages of using a template – consistency in document appearance, savings in time, ease of use and so on.  What about your employer? Do they create their own templates? Or are you able to create your own? ◦ Ok. You may not be working at the moment. Please provide your thoughts on the topic. ;-)  Please type at least 3-4 complete sentences.  If time permits, please respond to at least 2 classmates!

19 Effective Communication Guidelines (for the future)  Make appropriate language choices that reflect your knowledge and understanding of the topic.  Draw from a large and flexible vocabulary.  Apply conventions and rules of language appropriately.  Practice clear diction, including appropriate pronunciation, clear articulation of consonant sounds, and distinct enunciation of vowel sounds.  Strive to eliminate distracting elements of dialect.

21  Final timed writing will be Skills Assessment on Part 6 in the main text on page 490.

22 Matching:  Affidavit  Dot-Style  Will ◦ There are other vocabulary. However, you will find most the words in your reading and notes. ;-) You will need to identify errors in sentences such as: ◦ Spelling ◦ Punctuation ◦ Grammar ◦ No errors

23  San Serif Fonts are used for half-pages.  Know what a mouse is used for.  Best way to view clip art You will also need to identify misspelled words.

24  You will not be able to view your exam until after the course has ended.  Before all final exam grades are released, I do go over it to ensure everything is correct. I will make adjustments, as needed.  Once you start the test…Finish it. I will not be able to reset it for you. Do not leave the computer.  You will only have until the last day of class to complete exam. I will not allow extensions.
