3 Hi There !! Today you will learn something about reading !!

4 Theory depends on learning to read with a purpose, predict, skim, scan, extract, read and recognize functions, deduce meaning from context. teacher’s job to re-activate these skills by removing some of the barriers.

5 classroom procedures activate and encourage pupils to realize that reading can be fun.
Mostly this happens while integrating reading with computer.

6 What do People Read? Put everything you can remember reading the previous day all types even reading labels, shopping list, address book, road signs, posters, articles, books etc. What you read?

7 Why do people read ? There are some main reasons for reading
Reading for survival a matter of life or death immediate needs or wishes, signs instructions etc.

8 Reading for specific purposes
To give instructions To describe situations To report events To generalize

9 Reading for information goal oriented
Reading to extend the general knowledge of the world Reading for information

10 How do people read? The main types of reading are as follows:
Skimming: quickly running one’s eyes over a text to get the gist of it. Scanning: quickly going through a text to find a particular information.

11 How do people read? Extensive reading: reading longer texts
Intensive reading: reading shorter texts to extract information.

13 Reading Through Computer
STEELAtm is a modeling software package available on computer. It is a dynamic based system and useful tool for building understanding in reading.

14 Digital, concrete representation of the element of a system.
Provides a framework for reading ( (webinars.irisreadind.com)

15 History of Scanning 1969 with the addition of
The American Heritage Dictionary, 85% people accepted that scanning is used “to look over quickly”

16 SCANNING To examine closely To look over systematically and quickly
To analyze

17 Characteristics of Scanning
Preliminary scanning alert you to the new terms concepts and their sequence. Useful for locating statements definitions and formulas.

18 Guidelines for Scanning
Focus on different steps. Speed up your eye movements. Use the help of your index finger.

19 Scanning in computer on Screen
People found difficulty In Scanning on computer screen It is much slower on screen

20 Software for scanning, survey, tests and documents

21 Now Lets check whether you will be able to do an activity on it

22 Computer is an electronic device that help us to draw pictures, write letters, play games, do calculation etc. Computer is an assembly of several parts such as monitor, keyboard, mouse, etc. It is a device that runs on electricity and can perform calculation and store information. When computers were invented in 1940s, they were so large that they occupied whole rooms. Since then, they have been consciously improved and made smaller. Modern computer have more power and are no bigger than a book. Computer has an input advice to feed program and data into the computer. After the data is fed into computer it is then processed. The computer’s output is in the form of numbers, words or pictures display on the computer.

23 Questions What is a computer? When computers were invented?
What is an input device? What is an output device? Answer keys

24 Answers Computer is an electronic device that help us to draw pictures, write letters, play games, do calculation etc. 1940s Computer has an input advice to feed program and data in it. computer’s output is in the form of numbers, words or pictures display on the computer.

25 Conclusion remind readers of what they do in fact know and think,
encourage them to be active and reflective, realize that reading can be enjoyable and fun.

26 Computer modeling software technology is a beneficial innovation for improving reading skills.
