Presentation to the NUS Student Branch Mar 2008 HISTORY l The IEEE Singapore Section was legally registered with the Singapore Registry of Societies as a trade association in 1978. l The founding Section Chair was Peter Pang. l IEEE Singapore Section is recognized by IEEE as a geographical entity of Region 10.

Presentation to the NUS Student Branch Mar 2008 STRUCTURE l The 30- year-old Singapore Section has l 24 chapters l 2 affinity groups l 3 student branches l The latest addition is the formation of the Nanotechnology Chapter under the IEEE Technology Council, which is a collection of many IEEE societies. Usually no chapter is formed under a council but this chapter is an exception due to the multidisciplinary nature of nanotechnology. At this point, Singapore is the third chapter formed under the Council worldwide.
