3 3 MISSION STATEMENT The idea of 9-5 in the work environment has evolved, not on paper of course, but deadlines, the pressure of numerous tasks and timely job duties keeps workers from the comfort of their homes. So while working that “mandatory” or much needed overtime, what do you miss or who misses you?

6 6 Problem Statement Security Home Automations Not at home, package supposed to come today. Kid supposed to be home at 9:00 Dish Washer needs to run But your not at home….

7 7 Proposed Solution X10 home automation Wireless Camera Used to Video/Record Active Home Software/Hardware Used to control objects on House Code Iwitness Software/Hardware Used Receive and transmitt wireless signals and control Cameras. My house Online Software/Hardware Used to remotely trigger commands, lighting, etc.

8 8 Hardware Used ACTIVE HOME PRO CM15A USB 2-Way Interface Connects to PC’s USB Port Plugs into standard AC wall outlet Commands Dictated by Active Home Software Then sends digital signals over existing power-line to modules that receive the signals and execute the commands sent by the interface. 3 AAA batteries used for retaining time of day in case of power outage. Sends and Receives all 256 house/unit codes Able to monitor surveillance cameras, control appliances via the web.

10 10 Hardware CONTINUED………………………… MS14A Eagle Eye Motion Sensor used trigger and automatically control lights & appliances all around the home Weather-resistant design for indoor and outdoor use sends wireless Radio Frequency (RF) signals to the CM15A Wireless Interface Used to trigger XX20A and Porch light when Sensor Detects Motion Can be set by timer for when motion is no longer detected, the MS14A will no longer send signals.

11 11 Setup Software SOFTWARE PROVIDED BY THE X10 COMPANY DISTRIBUTED VIA EMAIL ATTACHMENT. SOFTWARE TO BE UNZIPPED TO DESKTOP OR COMPUTER LOCATION TO BE INSTALLED. EACH PIECE OF SOFTWARE IS IDENTIFIED & REGISTERED BY A UNIQUE REGISTRATION CODE TO REDUCE PIRACY.

18 18 CONCLUSIONS X10 has numerous solutions for the work environment as well as home automation. With “hand on” experience you gain more structural knowledge. Capstone has given me the opportunity to explore new ideas and technologies.

19 19 FUTURE WORK Expansions can be explored……. Control of lights, motors, video, audio, computer, washer, hot tub, wife. Extension with use of Programmable Logic Controllers.
