29 Serving the people of Cumbria Do not use fonts other than Arial for your presentations Key Messages Predominantly Eastern European – especially Polish, work drives migration. Migrants are mainly young but many have partners and dependants. Three quarters work mainly in the hospitality and manufacturing sectors - significant under employment. Friends and family are the key support network. Levels of satisfaction with life and services in Cumbria are high… HOWEVER migrants face barriers particularly a lack of English skills and long working hours. One third have experienced discrimination. The broad picture disguises a wide variety of experiences.
