1 Supporting Students with Read Aloud Accommodations Purpose: To provide read aloud services for all students with read aloud accommodations. Materials Needed: -List of students with read aloud accommodations -Class Test/Assessment -Laptop -iPad

2 Step One: 0 Set up a group of students in BlackBoard (steps below) 0 From a class, click on “Groups” in the Users and Group drop down menu on the left side of the page. 0 Click “Manual Enroll” from the Create drop down menu in the tool bar on the top of the page. 0 Change settings if necessary for steps 1 – 4 0 Step 5: Membership; click “Add users” box and then search users by name, select the box in front of their name (repeat this process for all group members), and then click “submit” on the bottom right side of the page. 0 Step 6: Submit; click on the “Submit” button

3 Step Two: 0 Change the settings on the RecorderPro App on your iPad. 0 Set it to.wav 0 From the application’s home page, click the gear button, and then extension

4 Step Three: 0 Record your assessment 0 Speak into your mic on the iPad 0 Eliminate background noise (if possible) 0 Consider length of recording (larger files take more time to upload) 0 Break test into pages or sections 0 Consider tone of voice and inflection

5 Step Four: 0 Rename the file to something that makes sense; files are saved by date and time. 0 Select the file (just touch the file) 0 Edit (top right) 0 Rename (bottom row)

6 Step Five: 0 Options for storage: 0 Download (bottom left) 0 Cloud storage to Dropbox 0 Edit (top right) 0 Email – will only work for very small files or zipped files 0 Open in – can go to Dropbox from here Once the files are in Dropbox, you will be able to upload them to your content collection within BlackBoard

7 Step Six: 0 Upload files from Dropbox to BlackBoard. 0 METHOD ONE: 0 From Black Board, click on Content Collection from the tool bar at the top of your home page. 0 Click “upload files” from the upload drop down menu 0 Click “browse” 0 Locate and select the files from your Dropbox folder 0 Click “submit” 0 METHOD TWO: 0 Go to the group you set up in step one, choose file exchange, browse computer, Dropbox, and select the file.

8 Student Directions 0 Students should log on to their BlackBoard account and log on to your class. 0 They should see the shared file on your page. 0 Click on the audio file and listen to the assessment. 0 Students with small group accommodations will still need a separate testing area to meet this accommodation as well as the read aloud accommodation.
