2 P RESIDENT : A LL THINGS H ABITAT ! The President of the Chapter shall also be the Chairperson of the Board (“Board of Directors” aka “Exec. Board”) and shall preside at all meetings of the Board and of the chapter meetings. The President shall be an ex officio member of all committees of the Board. The President shall have general supervision over the affairs, the officers, and the agent of the Chapter. Responsible for: Setting and distributing agendas for meetings Setting and distributing calendars of events Maintaining a working relationship with the local affiliate Coordinating an open communication with the Office of Student Activities Keeping chapter focused on its goals

3 V ICE P RESIDENT : B UILD In the absence of the President or in the event of a vacancy in the office of President, the Vice President shall perform the duties incident to the office of the President, and when so acting shall have all the powers of and be subject to all the restrictions upon the President. The Vice President shall have such powers and perform such duties as may be prescribed by the Board or by the President. Responsible for: Serving as Project Manager of chapter build Overseeing family liaison, volunteer coordinator, superintendents, and tools management Serving as Chapter Chaplain Keeping an open communication with the Construction and Horticulture Club

4 Family Liaison (Emily) Volunteer Coordinators Superintendents Tools Management Pursues a relationship with the family that we are building for. Also keeps all other members informed of the family's needs. Brainstorms ideas for gifts to family, plans get togethers with family, and makes scrapbook for the family. Keeps track of the number of volunteers designated for the build days. In other words, interested volunteers contact the coordinator. Maintains volunteers on the work site through a sign in/out sheet. Will also assign designated tools to each volunteer as needed through sign in/out sheet. (may be a temporary worker/ community service opportunity) Maintains close relationship with the VP during the build day. Will often be one of the most experienced on site and will help the Project Manager decide how to go about construction (while the Project Manager has the final say). Will help educate and designate groups through construction. (temporary worker......NO community service opportunity)

5 S ECRETARY : E DUCATE /A DVOCATE The Secretary shall be the custodian of the records of the Chapter. The Secretary shall have, in general, all the powers and perform all the duties incident to the office of the Secretary and such other duties as may, from time to time, be prescribed by the Board or the President. Responsible for: Preparing, recording, and maintaining the official minutes of the proceedings of the Board and of the members Authenticating or certifying the records of the Chapter Maintaining an official roster of the membership Ensuring that all notices are duly given by the College or any applicable governmental law, rule, or regulation Preparing grant and award applications Submitting annual report Overseeing the Networking and Advocacy Committees

6 Advocacy Committee (Chair: Kendell) Networking Committee (Chair: Andrea) Tasks of this committee include networking with on-campus entities to market our organization, recruiting new members and getting and keeping those members engaged, publicizing events of the chapter, and overseering the e-Manager and the Historians. E-Manager: Maintains the Chapter’s Facebook account and Web site with accurate and timely information Historians: Take photos at all events, put photos on CDs for records, create photo albums and slideshow, and help organize chapter office. The primary function of this committee is to promote the advocacy efforts of HFHI, through trips, programs, and speakers. This committee shall thus oversee efforts to plan special events, both social and educational, and public relations with community entities. Special Events: Plans/coordinates programs such as ActSpeakBuildWeek, World Habitat Day, and Break trips. Also plans social events to forge lifelong friendships amongst members. Public Relations: Invites speakers to events, sends follow-up thank you letters, and places event releases in media outlets.

7 T REASURER : F UNDS The Treasurer shall have general charge of the financial affairs of the Chapter and shall have, in general, all the powers and perform all the duties incident to the office of Treasurer and such other duties as may, from time to time, be prescribed by the Board or the President. Responsible for: Maintaining the financial records of the Chapter Providing for the safekeeping of the funds Receiving monies due and payable to the Chapter Depositing all such monies in the name of the Chapter in such banks, trust companies, and other depositories as selected by the Chapter Distributing funds authorized to be paid by the Chapter Keeping detailed fundraising records to submit to annual report Overseeing the Material and Monetary Acquisition Committees

8 Material Acquisition Committee (Chair: Mike) Monetary Acquisition Committee (Chair: David) Responsible for fundraising materials for build projects. This includes, but is not limited to, compiling proposal packages, contacting companies, and coordinating contact efforts. Also, oversees efforts to get food donations. Responsible for fundraising monetary donations for build projects. This includes, but is not limited to, compiling proposal packages, contacting prospective donors (companies, churches, student organizations), and coordinating contact efforts.

9 O FFICER M ISCELLANEOUS  “Any officer or agent of the Board or the Chapter may be removed by the Board whenever, in the judgment of the Board, the best interests of the Chapter will be served thereby”.  “A vacancy in any office may be filled by the Board for the unexpired portion of the term”.  See Chapter By-Laws for more information.
