4. Audience and Goal: The intended audience for this presentation is Senior and Cadet Aerospace Education Officers. The goal of this presentation is to thoroughly familiarize you with advanced learning opportunities available to Aerospace Education Officers as well as other members.

5. Objectives By the end of this presentation you will be able to: 1. Identify three online learning opportunities. 2. Discuss implementation options for advanced material in your squadron. 3. Discuss the Chief of Staff Reading List.

6. Online Learning Opportunities The 1990s witnessed a proliferation of learning opportunities on the Internet, including: n Computer Based Training n Online Universities n Online Journals and Newspapers n Knowledge Repositories and Books

7. Online Learning Opportunities (Continued) Many of these opportunities are available to CAP members at no cost.

8. Computer Based Training The primary source of Aerospace Computer Based Training (CBT) is the Air University (AU), in particular, the Aerospace Power course. The Aerospace Power course is designed to familiarize Air Force Officers, the grade of Captain and above, with the principles of Air Power and Jointness.

9. Aerospace Power Course AU has made its Aerospace Power course available to the general public and participants who register and complete and online exam receive a certificate of completion. Registration is not required to participate in the course. But what CAP member can’t use another certificate?

10. Aerospace Power Course (Continued) The course has 12 modules, including: n Air Power Overview n Foundations of Doctrine n The Doctrine Strategy Link n Principles of War n Tenets of Aerospace Power n Space and Information Operations

11. Aerospace Power Course (Continued) n Army, Navy, USMC Doctrine n Operational Aerospace Power n Expeditionary Aerospace Force n Joint Doctrinal Issues Each modules is complete in itself and the participant can take one, some, or all modules at his leisure.

12. Aerospace Power Course (Continued) Limitations The course is graphics-intensive and, therefore, requires a 56K or higher modem (DSL or cable is preferred). Do not attempt to complete the course at multiple locations (i.e. home and work), as a cookie is deposited on the computer and re-registration is required.

13. Aerospace Power Course (Continued) Recommendations The participant should print out the 125 page course narrative and read it as he goes through the course. The guide can be used to take notes and review for the exam, may be around longer than the online version, and is useful for a ready made lecture.

14. Online Universities Online Universities have brought education to our homes. American Military University is the most accessible in terms of content and cost. There are one credit, four week courses, Three credit 4-15 week courses, As well as graduate courses, All of which may be taken for credit or audited.

17. Online Journals and Newpapers (Continued) Popular Publications Popular publications are intended for readers with a low to moderate level of understanding or interest in a particular topic, but often go into considerable depth. Their purpose is to inform the general public or casual reader.
