1 How to Get Promoted Houston Medical Response Group Texas Medical Rangers

2 Things to consider: This reviews the education requirements for promotion. Some Medical Rangers are not interested in promotions – the pay is the same at any rank – we are all volunteers. Pay might be available in some emergencies, but it is not ‘in the plan’ at this time. Sometimes there may be limited reimbursement for some expenses – but there may not be, also. We are a volunteer agency. Welcome volunteer! [more]

3 A Caution: Some of the following requirements ‘don’t make sense’ at this time for Medical Rangers. Much of the rest of the State Guard is based on military police job descriptions. So - some [but not all] education requirements have military police components. These should change eventually for Medical Rangers, but they have not changed yet.

4 How to use tool: Step 1 – Ask yourself whether you were appointed as a Medical Ranger in the “Army Style” or “Air Force Style”. Most people are Army Style. Step 2 – Go to the correct section - Army or Air Force Step 3 – Find your current rank Step 4 – Do ‘all the things’ required up and including your current rank plus the requirements for the next rank to fulfill the educational requirement. Step 5 – Note that there is time in the Guard requirement for most promotions. Step 6 – Ask for help with things you don’t understand.
