1 at Home or in the Community
Using Riverdeep’s Interactive On-Line Software at Home or in the Community Presented by: Riverdeep, Inc® Houghton Mifflin Learning Technology

2 Riverdeep Wins Two iParenting Awards
Destination Math and Destination Reading, have received the prestigious Best Products Award from iParenting Media Network. iParenting Media Award winners are evaluated by a diverse set of licensed childcare centers, experts and parents nationwide. The awards program offers educators and parents a credible and objective way to determine the best products for educating children

3 You, Your Child’s First Teacher
Research studies conducted over the past thirty years have consistently demonstrated that parent involvement increases student achievement. Research also shows that parent involvement is not a single act, but rather a variety of acts.

4 Empowering Students Family involvement refers to activities families engage in to support their children’s education (Drake, 2000). When families become involved in their children’s education, students, schools, and communities all benefit because strong home-school partnerships help all stakeholders focus on the real issue of high student achievement (Caplan, 2000).

5 Why Software Is Effective?
All parents, regardless of their own skill level or language barrier, can help their children through the use of educational software. Software uses pictures and spoken instructions rather than written ones so that children will not need to ask for help. Children control the level of difficulty, the pace, and direction of the program.

6 Why Software is Effective?
Software offers variety: children can explore a number of topics on different levels. Children receive quick feedback, so they stay interested. Software engages children’s interest by encouraging children to laugh and use their imagination in exploring. Software is non-threatening.

7 Riverdeep as a Parent Resource
Riverdeep can be used as an aid for parents to help review skills prior to assisting their child with school work. Riverdeep is an excellent home literacy tool for parents. Parents can log on using their child’s ID number and practice their reading or math skills. Riverdeep Destination Math series is available in Spanish.
