2 Early life Born in Paris, November 14, 1840
Went to Le Havre secondary school of arts Mother died when he was 17 Self Portrait

3 Paris After the death of his mother, he went to live in Paris
He worked with other artists who shared new approaches to art known as Impressionism

4 Love life Monet’s future wife modeled in his painting, The Woman in a Green Dress Shortly after, she became pregnant and gave birth to their first child, Jean Due to financial reasons, Monet attempted suicide

5 later life On June 28, 1870, Camille and Monet got married
In 1876, Madame Monet became ill On March 17, 1878, she gave birth to their second son which weakened her fading health

6 Later life Madame Monet died on September 5, 1879 of tuberculosis, at the age of 32 Later on, filled with grief painted some of his best paintings A lady by the name of Alice Hoschedé help Monet raise his two sons

7 A new love Following the death of her husband, Alice and Monet got married in 1892 His second wife died in 1911 and his oldest son, Jean, who married Alice’s daughter, Blanche, died in 1914 Blanche took care of Monet, it was during this time that he showed the first signs of cataracts

8 A new sight Before After The paintings done while the cataracts affected his vision have a general reddish tone It may also be that after surgery he was able to see certain ultraviolet wavelengths of light that are normally excluded by the lens of the eye, this may have had an effect on the colors he perceived After his operations he even repainted some of these paintings, with bluer water lilies than before the operation

9 death Monet died of lung cancer at the age of 86
Monet had insisted that the occasion be simple; thus about fifty people attended the ceremony. The home is one of the two main attractions of Giverny, which hosts tourists from all over the world.
