Establish a Center for Competitive Collaborative Learning (CCL) associated with the Competitive Learning Institute (CLI). Secure ICPC and CLI viability through corporate sponsorship. Advance R&D in global enterprise technology focused on global services for CCL social networks. Foster academic research through the CLI Symposium and related academic and professional venues. Attract outstanding graduate students to Baylor.

2 icpc.baylor.edu What is the ICPC? ACM International Collegiate Programming Contest sponsored by IBM with headquarters at Baylor. Oldest and largest programming competition for the world’s universities and colleges. Annual events on four levels: Internet, local, regional, and World Finals. Teams of 3 students with 1 computer against 10-12 real world problems that they must solve within five hours. They solve them by writing software solutions that meet the testing and expectation of judges.

Since 1989, ICPC HQ is at Baylor. Organizational leadership of all World Finals. Hosted the 2006 World Finals in San Antonio. Provide global services over universities. Since 2002, CLI HQ is at Baylor. Advance R&D in CCL and global enterprise services for CCL communities.

Bill Poucher, CII Principle Investigator Jeff Donahoo, CLI R&D Director & CII Co-Principle Investigator Bill Booth, CLI Symposium Chief Editor The Collaborative Learning Institute (CLI) seeks to strengthen and grow the global pool of problem solvers in the computing sciences and related fields by extending the benefits of competitive collaborative learning to the virtual world. The CLI engages and removes obstacles for developing, inventing, applying, and providing global enterprise technologies to create opportunity for and raise the aspirations of the next generation by developing teamwork, prowess, and programming skills in a challenging, encouraging, relationship-rich environment. 9 icpc.baylor.edu What Does the CLI Do? ► CLI: Global Services via Global Enterprise Technology ► ICPC R&D using Students and Faculty at Baylor & other CLI universities ► ICPC Contest Registration, Management and Information Systems were re-developed starting in 2004 using Open Source technology and Open Standards under direction of Dr. Donahoo at Baylor University ► Baylor/Czech Tech Grad student awarded “Best Paper” for all of CZ ► IBM Virtual Center donated in 2013 ► Baylor research platform ► Resources used by ICPC academic volunteers in USA, Spain, China, Sweden, Russia, Prague, Netherlands ► Annual CLI Symposium during ICPC World Finals since 2002. ► Papers published for academic credit; sharing of “Best Practices” Petrozavodsk University 10 Day Training Camp ● 60 Teams, 20 Universities prepare for Regionals, Finals ● 9 ICPC Style Contests; 100 problems ● 29 ICPC Medalists; 5 World Champions Programming Challenge for Girls (14 years) ● Designed using latest Research on gender learning preferences/methods ● 75% of attendees interested in more study ● Expanding this fall to all Secondary Schools in Australia and New Zealand ICPC Automated Judging (U of Valladolid) ► 15 Million solutions since 1997

Today, we have the respect of faculty and students over 2,600 universities in 101 countries. Today, we have the respect of ACM, IBM, and other leading IT companies. Today, we have the respect of world and community leaders including presidents, prime ministers, ministers of higher education, governors, and mayors. We incubate global opportunity by enabling and encouraging future opportunity makers from all cultures, whether troubled, emerging or established. 2014 World Finals had over 1 billion media impressions with 400 million mention Baylor as the headquarters.

R&D and best practices research possible since services are actually delivered on state-of-the-art resources. Recruit top talent through informal relations with other ICPC institutions. Top MS graduate took all grad courses towards doctorate at Baylor and passed prelims at highest levels at CTU Prague. Baylor faculty currently direct doctoral research.
