8. Student Driving RULES 1. Pick up form in Main Office 2. Have parking Permit clearly visible 3. Obey all rules and traffic regulations outlined in the Student Handbook 4. If you are parked out front or in the visitors lot you will be towed!

9. BOCES Students may not drive to BOCES without a written permission from a school administrator. Students found driving to BOCES without permission will receive a referral and have their school driving permission revoked. Students riding illegally will also be subject the same discipline.

10. TARDINESS ALL STUDENTS ARE TO BE IN CLASS BY 7:50. STUDENTS WILL BE CONSIDERED TARDY BY TEACHERS AND ADMINISTRATION IF THEY ARE IN THE HALLWAY OR LATE TO SCHOOL. ANY STUDENT WHO IS TARDY IS EXPECTED TO HAVE A NOTE WITH THEM ON THE MORNING THEY ARE TARDY. STUDENTS WHO ARE LATE ILLEGALLY 3 TIMES WILL RECEIVE DISCIPLINE FOR TARDINESS

11. Building Security Please do not open the outside doors for anyone during the school day. All students and visitors must use the Hilficker Auditorium entrance between 7:50 and 3:05

12. EXTRA-CURRICULAR ACTIVITIES Athletes waiting for practice to begin are expected to wait in the A-Wing by the gymnasium. If you are caught leaving school and going to local establishments, you will be banned from practice for the night No detention or suspension will be moved because of extra-curricular activities Students are expected to be representatives of our school and need to be supportive of our athletes.

13. PASSES All students must have a pass to be in the hallway. Any student without a pass will be required to return to the classroom and acquire a pass from their instructor. Students must report to study hall and present their pass to the study hall teacher prior to going to the class. All students should then sign out from study hall.

14. ACADEMIC ELIGIBILITY STUDENT NAMES ARE TURNED IN ON FRIDAY STUDENTS CONTACTED AND INFORMED OF INELIGIBILITY ONE – WEEK PROBATION GRADES MUST BE PASSING BY FRIDAY OF THE FIRST WEEK OR ONE WEEK SUSPENSION FROM ALL EXTRA- CURRICULAR ACTIVITIES

15. ATTENDANCE POLICY Basic Guidelines Strong correlation between attendance and grades Regular, punctual attendance in school is expected for all students A student missing 7 sessions for a quarter, 14 sessions of a half year subject or 28 sessions of a full year subject is ineligible for credit.

16. ATTENDANCE POLICY LEVEL 1 -After 7/14/21/27 class absences for a full year course a letter will be forwarded to parent/guardian -Course credit will be lost once the student reaches 29

17. ABSENCE EXCUSES ALL EXCUSES MUST BE SUBMITTED TO THE ATTENDANCE OFFICER, MRS. MEHLENBACHER WITHIN 1 DAY OF RETURNING TO SCHOOL LEGAL EXCUSES Illness – Accompanied by a medical note Death in family Religious observance Impassable roads Quarantine Court – Note from judge Music Lessons Health Clinic – Note from clinic Cooperative work program Military obligations

18. LOCKERS PUT A LOCK ON YOUR LOCKER THE SCHOOL IS NOT RESPONSIBLE FOR ANYTHING STOLEN FROM YOUR LOCKERS ALL LOCKS CAN BE PURCHASED AT THE COPY ROOM.

19. LOCKERS LOCKERS ARE OWNED AND MAINTAINED BY THE SCHOOL. ANYTHING STUDENTS STORE WITHIN IN THEM IS SUBJECT TO SEARCH BY SCHOOL OFFICIALS. LOCKERS ARE TO BE KEPT CLEAN AND FREE OF MATERIALS. NOTHING SHOULD BE HUNG INSIDE OR OUTSIDE NO INAPPROPRIATE MATERIAL IS NOT ALLOWED IN THE LOCKER

20. STUDY HALLS EXPECTATIONS Students will study Bring materials with them Report to study hall with a pass if you plan on going to another room. No talking No radios, tape players or CD players… No card playing

21. BREAKFAST In Middle/Senior High School breakfast is a privilege not a right. Served from 7:40 – 9:30.Once the school day begins, students may only go out of study halls for breakfast. All food must be consumed in the elementary cafeteria.

22. REFERRAL PROCESS Think before you act. Please do not put yourself in the position of having to be sent to the office.

23. Referral Process If asked to leave a classroom by a member of the staff, you must report to the middle/high school office immediately

24. INSUBORDINATION THE FOLLOWING DEFINITION SHOULD HELP UNDERSTAND WHAT CONSTITUTES INSUBORDINATION Disrespectful behavior toward school personnel, interference with the teachers ability to control class, failure to obey a reasonable request the first time, failure to identify yourself to school personnel when requested, telling a staff member no or abuse or insult to a member of the school staff. I refuse to follow your directions!

25. DRESS CODE Using “Good Taste” will help define what is acceptable. Please do not embarrass yourself by having to be asked to wear appropriate material All shorts and skirts may not be any higher than than 8 inches above the bent knee No bare mid-riff No halter top, plunging neck line and see through garments No shirt straps less than an inch in width No clothing with obscene or distracting writing or pictures, or discriminating in any way. No clothing advocating drugs, alcohol or tobacco Proper footwear at all times Underwear completely covered

26. ELECTRONIC DEVICES Pagers, cell phones, CD Players … and laser pointers are not to be brought to school. Students who are in possession of these items will be asked to place these items in the High School Office. The device may be picked up by a parent and or guardian.

27. SEXUAL HARASSMENT It is the policy of this district that all students have the right to an environment free from harassment. This is defined as harassment, any time a perpetrator creates an uncomfortable environment for an employee or student at school, on school grounds, at school functions or on a school bus. Conduct considered sexually harassing is not determined by how the “harasser” intends it, but how it is received by the person who feels he or she are being harassed. Students engaging in such conduct are subject to disciplinary action, up to and including discharge.

EXAMPLES OF SEXUAL HARASSMENT Off color remarks Pressure for dates Unwanted phone calls Touching Sexual cartoons, graffiti, pictures … Spreading sexual rumors Sexual propositions Having too personal conversation Cornering or blocking movements Attempted rape/ rape Any verbal or physical contact deemed of a sexual nature

29. INAPPROPRIATE LANGUAGE INAPPROPRIATE LANGUAGE HAS NO PLACE WITHIN THE EDUCATIONAL INSTITUTION. THIS TYPE OF EXPRESSION WILL NOT BE TOLERATED ON SCHOOL GROUNDS
