2 Groundwork MSSTT: Changing Places Changing Lives  Formed in 2008 but over 25 years history in area  Part of the National Federation of Groundwork Trusts  Financially and operationally independent  Charitable status, Not for Profit  Work to deliver, inspire and improve local areas, businesses and the lives of local people, many of whom live in some of our most challenging neighbourhoods.

3 Our Impact Between 2011 and 2012 we…  Improved 713,311 M2 of land  Actively involved 3,302 young people in projects  Helped people gain 359 formal qualifications  Supported 321 businesses  Created 31 jobs  Helped avoid or save 43,135 Tonnes of C02 emmissions  Actively involved 24 Schools

7 Pass It On: Next Steps Support  Funded through Stockport Business Challenge  Youth project with 2 core outcomes:  Get young people into sustained employment, training and education  Improve aspirations and confidence

8 How is Pass It On different?  Targets “in-betweeners”  Develops and rewards a peer mentoring support network  Works closely with local businesses and delivery partners  Designed to “fill the gaps” in current 15-19 provision

9 Sustainable Stockport Positioning Stockport to be a Sustainable Living exemplar town, showcasing locally delivered, sustainable solutions Target Outcomes:  3 new Sustainable Living groups  Groups trained to ensure longevity  Establishment of “Sustainable Living” Stockport network  Demonstrable carbon savings and behaviour change  Transferable learning

11 Blue Sky  Nationally employed more than 700 people with a criminal record since 2005  48% employees progressing into permanent employment  Re-offending rates are 15% - around one quarter of national average.

12 Blue Sky in Stockport Stockport Homes & Stockport MBC – Environmental Improvement Service in Priority 1 Areas  Contract value £263K over 18 months (2010-12)  19 people with criminal records provided with employment  16 people stayed for 13 weeks or more and achieved at least 1 qualification  52% secured onward employment  Led to 3 new contracts with Stockport Homes and Equity Housing
