2 2 Upon How to Use This Demonstration Print or View this file before you log onto Steelroads Customized Parameter Trace Refer to this demo as you are using the new application for the first time Notice that each page of this demonstration corresponds with the “next step” to take while setting up your report. 2

3 3 Basic Facts Parameter Trace is a component of Steelroads Track and Trace Parameter Trace is only visible to those with permission to use it Parameter Trace will give you trace data of your active railcar trips only (based on your company being listed on the waybill of the current trip ) 3

4 4 Steelroads users with access to the new Customized Parameter Trace will see a link to this new, exciting application on the main Track and Trace page. Only users with permission to use this module will see this accessible option here. 4

5 5 Upon Get Started in the new Customized Parameter Trace by selecting your traffic type (car load or intermodal). Next, on the right side of the screen, select from any one of our predefined report templates or build your own. Don’t forget to click NEXT when you are finished with this screen. 5

6 6 Navigation – Throughout the next several screens (within the Roles and Filters tab) you will see various options listed on thick gray lines. Each option has a white check box that, when selected, expands the gray line showing the full feature of the option you selected. To see more details of each option, select the check box that corresponds with each feature you would like to see. Expanded Option Option NOT yet expanded 6

7 7 Upon ROLES – In this tab, you need to identify your companies role in the shipments you are tracing. Are you the shipper? Consignee? Or Both? Select any combination of roles, then highlight the company (or companies) and click the Add arrow. 7

8 8 Upon FILTERS – After clicking on Filters, you will see a second row of tabs that are categories of filter options. Filters are used to help you customize the data to include in your trace report. (See the next slide for a complete list of available filter options.) The more filters you select, the more customized your report will be to fit your specific needs. 8

Some filter items, such as date ranges, will allow you to select from past number of days or a date range. Some filter items, such as waybill, equipment, or purchase order, will allow you to enter your filter information via free form data entry. As an example, enter the city, click Search to view the matching city options, then click on the arrow to add the selected city to your trace filter. 10

11 11 Upon More on Filters - Each filter tab contains various types of filters that can be selected in similar ways. Some filter items, such as waybill, equipment, or purchase order, will allow you to enter your filter information via free form data entry. In each filter option that contains arrows, be sure to select the first or second arrow button to add selections to your trace filters. For example, enter the city, click Search to view the matching city options, then click on the arrow to add the selected to city to your trace filter. 11

12 12 Upon Filter Suggestions – Below is a list of a few commonly used filter combinations. It is suggested to use one or many of these filter combinations when setting up your trace. Once you have a trace setup like you want it, be sure to save it to use over again. Filters to UseOutput You Will Receive Destination and ETAYour railcars destined to the city or state you define that are estimated to arrive by the ETA you specify in the filter. Origin and DestinationYour railcars traveling between the origin and destination points you define. Event/Bad Order and ETA/Elapsed Time Your railcars currently Bad Ordered and have not moved in the amount of Elapsed Time you specify on the ETA filter screen. Loaded and CommodityYour loaded railcars carrying the commodity you specify. 12

13 13 Upon Format – After selecting all of your Filters, select the Format tab by clicking next> from the Filter screen, or clicking directly on the Format tab. Here, you will specify what your report will look like. Choose a standard CLM format from this drop down box. Or, for a Customized Report, select from any of the 40+ pieces of information available. These selections will make up your column headings, and can be arranged in any order by using the up and down arrows on the right. 13

14 14 Upon Format (continued) – Once you have your Roles, Filters, and Format selected, check to make sure you like the layout of your report before running the report by selecting the PREVIEW button on the Format screen. If you like what you see, RUN your trace, and evaluate the report. 14

15 15 Upon Output– The Output tab allows you to select the delivery method for your report. The default option is Browser, so selecting RUN before visiting this screen and making another selection will result in your report being visible within your internet browser (as in on slide 14). If you are setting up a report to save, consider an Email delivery option. The most popular option is Email – CSV, which will deliver to your email address an attachment which can be opened in Excel. 15

16 16 Upon Schedule – Automatically receive your report by using the Schedule feature shown below. Schedule your report to run weekly, daily, or several times a day. Be sure to choose your schedule and turn your schedule ON before saving your report. Select Save As and you will be prompted to name your saved trace. 16

17 17 Upon Summary – Visit the Summary page of your saved trace to see the parameters used to define your report. 17

18 18 Upon Trace List – Use the Trace List page to manage your saved reports. Here, you can see what traces are scheduled, and which ones are about to expire. Run your trace or Renew Schedule with one easy click. 18
