8 STP / Incubators? About Science and Technology Parks
habitat for businesses and institutions of the global knowledge economy promote the economic development and competitiveness of regions and cities by: Creating new business opportunities and adding value to mature companies Fostering entrepreneurship and incubating new innovative companies Generating knowledge-based jobs Building attractive spaces for the emerging knowledge workers Enhancing the synergy between universities and companies.

9 Definition SCIENCE PARK (IASP Official definition) A Science Park is an organization managed by specialized professionals, whose main aim is to increase the wealth of its community by promoting the culture of innovation and the competitiveness of its associated businesses and knowledge-based institutions. A Science Park stimulates and manages the flow of knowledge and technology amongst universities, R&D institutions, companies and markets; it facilitates the creation and growth of innovation-based companies through incubation and spin-off processes; and provides other value-added services together with high quality space and facilities. (IASP International Board, 6 February 2002).

INVESTMENT READINESS TRAINING (IRTRAIN) is an investment Readiness Training Programme for nacent entrepreneurs looking for seed-capital – Academy of business excellence. EXE-MORE is a project for enabling exchange of nascent entrepreneurs to host entrepreneurs in EU countries in order to enhance business skills and screen new markets. FIDIBE is a project for enhancing network of existing TPs in SEE Area:exchange of  experience, development of common standards for  establsihing and further development of existing business innovation parks. BUSINESS REGION LK is a cross border project with Lakeside Technology & Science Park Klagenfurt in order to enhance cooperation and develop common services.

28 The most successive stories in 2009
Red Orbit won the title of The best business idea in Slovenia for 2008/09. Winner of Slovenian Advertisement Festival for the most innovative approaches of communication - Sonce.net. Three companies Elaphe, Gama System and XLAB made a TOP 10 Slovenian list of the most innovative companies. Gama System with its e-doc software penetrated markets on three continents – Europe, Africa and Asia.
